My Take
Oleana is Ana Sortun's Mediterranean masterpiece, and it's been one of the best restaurants in Boston for two decades. The flavors are complex without being fussy — Turkish and Arabic influences done with real technique. The baked Alaska for dessert is legendary. The patio in summer is one of the best outdoor dining experiences in the area.
Why It Matters
This is destination-quality food that just happens to be in Cambridge. Sortun's spice work and flavor combinations are genuinely unique — you won't find food like this anywhere else in the city.
